What to Expect from My Antenatal Support
If you’re expecting a baby, chances are you’ve already been given plenty of advice — some helpful, some confusing, and some that you definitely didn’t ask for.
One person says “Make sure you’ve got a strict routine from day one.”
Another says “Just sleep now while you can!”
And somewhere in the middle, you’re simply trying to work out what you actually need.
That’s exactly why I created my antenatal support sessions — personalised, calm support designed around you and your family.
My aim is to give you a calm, supportive space where you can ask questions and feel prepared. You can also learn more about me and my background on the About Kandis page.
So, what actually happens in an antenatal session?
First of all… no awkward classroom vibes, no being put on the spot, and no expectation to know all the answers.
My antenatal support is personalised to you, your pregnancy, and your family. Sessions are relaxed, practical, and designed to help you feel informed in a way that actually makes sense.
Depending on what you’d like support with, we may cover:
Understanding labour and birth
We’ll talk through how labour typically starts, what happens during the different stages of birth, and how your body is designed to work during labour.
No scary jargon — just clear, realistic guidance.
Birth preferences and feeling informed
Many parents hear the phrase birth plan and immediately feel pressure.
I prefer to think of it as understanding your options and knowing what matters to you.
We can explore:
Your preferences for labour and birth
Pain relief options
Birth environment
How to stay flexible if plans change
Because informed and adaptable is far more useful than “perfect”.
How your birth partner can support you
Birth partners often want to help but aren’t always sure how. Supporting the whole family is an important part of the way I work — you can read more on my Services page.
We’ll cover practical ways they can support you, advocate for you, and feel involved throughout the experience — whether that’s your partner, friend, family member, or someone else by your side.
Feeding and the early days
Those first days with a newborn can feel magical, emotional… and sometimes a little chaotic.
We can talk about:
Feeding basics
Newborn behavior
What’s normal (and what can feel surprisingly normal once someone tells you!)
Looking after yourself too
Because you matter as well.
Building confidence, not perfection
One of the biggest things I hope families take away from my sessions is confidence.
Not the kind where you feel you need to know everything.
The kind where you trust yourself, know where to turn for support, and feel ready to meet whatever comes your way.
Why families choose personalised antenatal support
Every pregnancy is different.
Some parents feel excited and ready to plan everything.
Some feel anxious.
Some feel both before breakfast.
That’s why one-size-fits-all advice doesn’t always work.
My sessions are tailored to your circumstances, your questions, and your pace — with space for honesty, reassurance, and a few laughs along the way too.
A gentle reminder
You do not need to have everything figured out before your baby arrives.
You don’t need the perfect hospital bag, the perfect nursery, or the perfect plan.
You just need support that helps you feel informed, calmer, and more like yourself.
